Children and Adolescents
Trillium helps find the best path for the person, family and community.
At Trillium Psychological Services, we work one-on-one with children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of six – 22. Family members are included, when appropriate, to clarify referral concerns, determine appropriate assessments, and contribute to the therapeutic process.
Maybe you’ve noticed your young person has been struggling lately but it’s been difficult to understand why or talk to them about it. Here are some signs that it may be time to see a therapist:
- Fluctuating emotions
- Irritability or aggression
- Becoming withdrawn or isolated
- Changes in interests
- Changes in hygiene
- Excessive clinginess
- Language/behavior regression
- Changes in sleeping or eating habits
- Extreme bouts of sadness or worry
- Frequently talking about death
You may have found Trillium psychology after receiving a medical diagnosis or after having pathology suggested by a school authority or other knowledgeable stakeholder. Trillium psychology is prepared to help serve individuals and families navigating the following referral concerns:
- Anxiety and/or depression
- Disordered eating
- Personality disorders
- Self-harm and/or suicidal thoughts
- Trauma
- ADHD/other behavioral issues
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Trichotillomania
- Learning disorders
- Developmental disability/autism
Family Involvement
To begin, intake paperwork is completed by the caregiver. This is followed by a 90-minute intake session for thorough clinical understanding, diagnosis and collaborative treatment planning. Clinical assessment may be recommended and scheduled before therapy begins. Once individual therapy with the young person has started, caregivers will be consulted at least every six weeks. Family sessions, or co-joint sessions, with particular individuals can be conducted if determined appropriate. Many times, depending on the referral concern, progress assessments are conducted and a parent/family session is held to review results/provide feedback.
Assessments for Children
We conduct private gifted assessments, ADHD and autism evaluations, and general psychological assessments for children.
Adults
Psychotherapy can help develop tools to improve your quality of life.
Life is full of challenges, but you don’t need to navigate them on your own. Through individual therapy you can acquire new or improved skills for dealing with stress and other challenges.
Through empirically-based, psychodynamic and behavior-focused therapeutic strategies, we can assess what type of support you may need. Trillium can help adults struggling with:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Parenting
- Disordered eating
- Personality disorders
- Suicidal thoughts
- Self-harm
- Trauma
- Behavior issues
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Trichotillomania/Excoriation
Referrals
We accept referrals for both high- incidence (anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavior concerns) and low-incidence (bipolar disorder, personality disorders, impulse control, and obsessive compulsive disorder; self-harm and thoughts of suicide) concerns.
Assessments for Adults
Trillium provides general psychological assessments for adults.
